The Race: PHUNT 50K is run in the standard FatAss format -- no fee, no frills, just 50K of fresh air and plenty of single track trail at beautiful Fair Hill State Natural Area in northeastern Maryland, just a few miles from the Delaware and Pennsylvania state lines. We might mark some of it if we have time. Just in case, bring a map! Print one, or load the race track into your SmartPhone or GPS, from the files on the maps page (updated Friday before race).
Additionally, PHUNT would not be possible without committed volunteers and the gracious staff of Fair Hill NRMA who we have worked with us to make this happen. PLEASE respect the recreation area, DO NOT litter, and realize there may be other non-running Fair Hill users on the trail who should be treated with the utmost courtesy.
Race Amenities: The race is free but you expect amenities? Well, you are in luck -- we'll have just enough to keep you from keeling over from dehydration or starvation. Runners will be have access to fluids and snackies every 5 or 6 miles -- to help in this, we would appreciate it if each runner could bring one drink (preferred) or a snack item to contribute to the aid station tables. Best of all, Brother Phil gave us his barley lentil soup recipe before he left us for Florida, so you can probably expect some hot soup at the finish-line tent.

Parking: Parking space will be very tight for the numbers signed up. Please, please car pool as much as possible to help!
The Canned Food Drive: Please Participate in the PHUNT X Run Food Drive! The "2013 Runabundance for Philabundance" is once again coordinated by TrailDawg Alex Osterneck. As Alex notes:
Race Supporters: Thanks to the generosity of area merchants Trail Creek Outfitters, Delaware Running Company, and Chester County Running Store Pottstown, there will be giveaways at the start and merchandise awards for top finishers. Many thanks to these fine businesses for their generous support of this trail event!
Food-insecurity is a sad, unfortunate reality in America. In the greatest country in the history of the world, an astonishing 47-Million people collect food-stamps. That is 1/6 of our national-population. And there are millions more who go hungry that do not benefit from food stamps. Grown adults, children and senior-citizens in DE, MD & PA need your help – please donate canned-goods and non-perishables at PHUNT X. As in years past, all donations will be distributed to The Elkton Relief Shelter, The Delaware Food Bank, and Philabundance.
Thanks to the generosity of the 2012 PHUNT runners, 2012 was a huge success with ~1000-lbs of donated food brought to the race for distribution. Help break the TD record in 2013!! The participant who donates the most (canned goods, macaroni & cheese, breakfast cereals, no perishables,) will be crowned 2013 King or Queen, win personal-satisfaction, and be awarded a $50 gift-certificate to Trail Creek Outfitters.
