The PHUNT 25K/50K TRAIL RACE is held at the Fair Hill Natural Resource Management Area, in Elkton, MD and is hosted by the Trail Dawgs. We're an informal club whose members reside in the tri-state area (DE/MD/PA), excel in drinking(on occasion), while dabbling in running.
PHUNT has grown from a free fat-ass with about 100 people, to a fee based event that attracts over 800 runners each year. We typically sell out within 3 weeks of registration opening, but do keep a wait list going. We utilize a heated hall on the park grounds where the race starts/finishes at. The 5600 acre park borders the MD/PA state line, and boasts of over 80 miles of single track. While there are not any massive climbs, there's a reason why the park is named "Fair Hill".
You can opt for 1, or 2 loops (25K, 50K), 25K & 50K participants can even make a game day decision after completing the first loop. 50K starts at 8 a.m. and finishes by 5 p.m., which is a 9 hour time limit. The 25K starts at 9 a.m., and finishes by 5 p.m., which is a hiker friendly 8 hour time limit. The 4 aid stations are at mile 4(ish), mile 8(ish), mile 11.2, and mile 15.6 (start/finish area).
